Goal
    1. To enable pupils to develop an ever-improving capability to use English:
            1.1   to acquire, develop and apply knowledge
            1.2   to respond and give expression to experience
    2. To encourage pupils to use English effectively by developing competence in the skills of listening, reading, speaking and writing.
    3. To enable pupils to develop language development strategies/ generic skills:

            3.2   reference skills
            3.3   library skills
            3.4   study skills
    4. To enable pupils to use English as a tool or a medium for communication, further studies, entertainment and pleasure.

Program Content
 1. Refine English learning and teaching mode
 • Target students: P.1-6
 • Co-plan: once per semester
 • Strategy:
   Pre-lesson
    ➤ Students do preparation (e.g. complete a survey, watch a video, share own experience) While-lesson
   While-lesson
    ➤ Teachers use different teaching strategies in lessons
   Post-lesson
    ➤ Students do extended tasks (e.g. make a poster, show and tell, draw / take photos of signs in park)
    ➤ Task completed: reward
 2. Theme-based reading (series storybooks)
 • Target students: P.1-2
 • P.2: Oxford Reading Tree (Biff, Chip and Kipper Stories Level 3, 4)
 • P.1: Little Critter
 • Strategy:
    ➤ Introduce the characters and reading strategies (each class takes turn to use 4 selected books from the series)
    ➤ Students borrow the selected books and finish the activity booklet at home (reward)
    ➤ Other books of the same series are provided in the classroom for borrowing during EERG lessons
    ➤ Introduce the websites of Little Critter as well as Biff, Chip and Kipper
    ➤ Additional related storybooks will be displayed in the library
